The African Luxor Festival (LAFF) maintains its tradition and commitment to young African filmmakers, in terms of film training, through its various workshops. LAFF has chosen, for its eighth edition,

The first workshops began at LAFF in 2012 under the supervision of directors such as Samir Seif, Reda EL Bahi, well known DOP, Kamal Abdel Azize and screenwriter Hani Fawzi. Then this workshop became the milestone of LAFF under the tutelage of the renowned Ethiopian director Haile Gerima for several editions. And it is the Egyptian director Khairi Beshara who took over for the last edition.

Saad Hendawy said he will transmit to the students of the workshop, his know-how in short film production, training and teach them how to face and overcome the various obstacles that young filmmakers of the continent may encounter. The main idea of the workshop is to make a movie on a single day, a single place and in one shot.

Saad Hendawy graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema in Cairo, department of . He continued, for two years, postgraduate studies. He has directed 4 long narrative films: "Love has a story- Paparazzi" 2015, "Serial Killer " 2009, "The Seven Colors of Heaven" 2007, "state of love" 2004. He realized two TV serials "Secret word" and "Very good". His repertoire also includes two long documentaries "Doaa ... Aziza" 2012 and "Private File" 2008.

In the field of teaching and workshops, he has taught in several places, including "First Step Workshop" and a month-long workshop in Oman. He also taught at  « Raafat Al Mehy» Film School and the Art Lab Institute. He has contributed to the organization of festivals around the world. Hendawy was the artistic director, for three consecutive years, of the "Cinema of Tomorrow" competition at Cairo International Film Festival. He has been a consultant and programmer for Dubai International Film Festival, adviser to the International Clermont-Ferrand Festival in France, consultant and programmer for Locarno Short Film Festival in Switzerland.

Saad Hindawi has also participated in the juries of many Arab and international festivals. Several of his films have won awards, including "Doaa .. Aziza" : Special Jury Prize at the Tétouan Festival in Morocco in 2014, the Nile Grand Prix for Best Feature Documentary at the Luxor Film Festival of Luxor. He won the Best Director Award for "The Seven Colors of Heaven" at the National Film Festival. And the Best Film Award of the Film Association for "state of love". "An Ordinary Sunday" won the Silver Tanit at the JCC in Tunisia.

The Luxor African Film Festival is organized by the Independent Shabab Foundation (ISF) with an exclusive media sponsorship of the dmc television channels and the support of the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Youth and the National Bank of Egypt in cooperation with the Luxor Governorate and the Film Syndicate.
